CAPE is a not for profit voluntary sector organisation that provides a support service to people who experience severe and enduring mental health problems, living in the London borough of Ealing.
Our principle premises is in the centre of Acton. Clients living in the West of the borough can access additional support at The Lotus Centre in Southall through a joint working partnership we have with MIND in Ealing and Hounslow.
Currently in our 19th year, CAPE encourages people with mental health needs to achieve great things through engaging with our outreach support, volunteering and work opportunities, and the many activity, education and training, health and wellbeing, and talking therapy groups that we facilitate as part of our drop-in service, all of which focus on building resilience.
Our vision is to have a society which is active in supporting and building the emotional resilience of everyone living through mental ill-health, and where everyone can live their lives without prejudice. Our mission is to improve emotional resilience and mental health for all people, by delivering flexible services that value and encourage our clients to recognise their strengths, leading them to greater mental wellbeing.
People can and do recover from the most serious and long-term mental health problems. Our work recognises that recovery is a unique and individual experience and while there may be common themes and experiences, no two people’s recovery journeys will be identical.
Values Five values inform all of our work with clients:
- Individual centred work: Focus on the individual and not on the diagnosis.
- Empowerment: Focus on people’s strengths and potential, encourage autonomy and responsibility.
- Choice: Respond to the individual needs of our clients.
- Quality: Commit to ensuring quality in everything we do.
- Passion: Passion and dedication are fundamental to ensuring the positive impact of our work.
Wellbeing We use the New Economics Foundation’s Five Ways to Wellbeing framework as a structure for organising our activities and the way we work with people. This is an evidence-based set of actions that, when adopted, have been demonstrated to improve wellbeing. These Five Ways are:
- Be Active
- Keep Learning
- Take Notice
